Today, marine or not, every app needs to be updated regularly. Every iOS or Android update comes with its breaking changes, which makes older versions incompatible or problematic.
There are multiple anchoring apps around. Some are ok, some are not. Yet the experience can be so much better.
For captains, safety of the crew, themselves and the boat is always a concern. SafeBoat focuses on minimizing that.
As a team of boat owners who are also (and luckily) developers that regularly spend time cruising, we started with the anchor alarm and made it the most stable and easy to use one we could. Then we kept going, one thing we missed on our own boats at a time.

- Route planner and trips: an AI that minds the forecast on each leg and points out sheltered bays, saved routes, and trip recordings that pause at anchor by themselves.
- BoatGPT, which answers questions about boats, gear and seamanship, and cites the page when the answer comes from a manual.
- Pairing, so one phone stays aboard and the other carries the alarms ashore.
- Anchorages rated and described by the boats that lay in them, shown without names.
- Offline maps, twelve languages, Daylight and Midnight themes that switch at local sunset.
All of it is free, with no ads. The anchor alarm and I’m OK need no account at all.
